A Bold Step into Cayman’s Thriving Economy

Jan 24

We are thrilled to announce the inauguration of our new office in the vibrant Cayman Islands.

The office will be headed by Yaremis Hydes who will soon join Consilium as a Managing Partner, from Aon, bringing with her more than 17 years of experience in broking specialist lines in Cayman.

Power of Collaboration

Our focus in Cayman will be on the financial and professional lines, construction and residential and commercial property. James Baird, joint CEO of Consilium, explained;

“The insurance industry in Cayman has and is traditionally a captive management market, dominated by the big global brokers and a few other specialists focused on this sector. More recently, we have seen consolidation of the limited number of insurance broking businesses meaning there is less choice for the client base.”

This presents a significant opportunity for Consilium and makes Cayman an ideal jurisdiction to put boots on the ground, bringing the London and European insurance markets closer to Cayman clients and local insurance companies.

James highlights the significance of this move, saying;

“Cayman is a thriving economy and one of the most sophisticated financial and professional service markets in the world. The economy and population are growing. With this growth comes construction, infrastructure, projects and societal needs where insurance plays a vital role.”

Painting Canvases with Consilium Colours

Anticipating further recruitment to the Cayman team throughout 2024, at Consilium, we believe in nurturing individuality and entrepreneurialism. James Baird emphasises;

“We want Yaremis and her colleagues to unleash their potential and paint their canvases with our colours to best service the Cayman client and insurer community, rather than external shareholders."

As we step into the Cayman Islands, we are already ahead of budget for Q1 23/24 and on target to achieve a USD 1.4 bn GWP by 2026.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been part of our journey so far. Consilium’s presence in the Cayman Islands is not just an office opening but a true testament to our commitment to growth, collaboration and pioneering the future of insurance.

As we embark on the next chapter, we invite you to join us in shaping the future of insurance, one innovative stroke at a time.
